Spiritual Direction/Guidance
Spiritual direction is the process of listening prayerfully with another person to the leading of the Spirit of God. For centuries, many on the faith journey have been helped by having a guide or director along the path. This is not psychotherapy, but an opportunity to pay attention and create space for the movement of God.
We are all fellow pilgrims, and Lainie is a certified spiritual director and enjoys this sitting with others in this "holy listening" posture to help give birth to the new thing God is doing. Lainie has her own spiritual director, and is in accountability with other directors in the area.
We offer both individual AND group spiritual direction. Sessions are normally once a month for 45-60 mins. If you would like to explore spiritual direction, contact Lainie by phone (434) 882-2888 or lainie@nurturingyoursoul.com.
Fees: There isn't a set rate for spiritual direction. The rate ranges from $40-$100 per session. Please give a donation as you are able, or to help sponsor others who are unable to pay much. Please see the Fees/donations tab to give online or by check.
Groups and Courses
We offer several "experiential" learning communities that cover a variety of topics to facilitate one's spiritual and leadership formation. These groups usually go in 6-8 week cycles. Check the Schedule of Events tab for a current listing of groups/courses.
Quiet Times (Retreats)
From early spiritual fathers and mothers we see the practice of leaving the crowds to "retreat" or go to a quiet place for rest and re-focus. As our lives become fuller, we need to practice a rhythm of Sabbath or "Retreat."
We offer "quiet times" for individuals and small groups (2-4) only, which may be scheduled for a half-day (9-12 or 1-4) or full-day (10-4 PM ). You can also schedule a retreat during a long lunch or break in your day. Quiet days may include time for Holy Communion, Prayer and Worship, reading and rest. We also offer spiritual direction by appointment during your "quiet" times. See below for fees/rates.
Healing (Soaking) Prayer or Meditation
Many times in our lives we need a focused time to "soak" in God's presence and experience His healing over broken, "stuck" places in our souls. We need someone alongside us in these seasons of prayer/meditation. Fee/Donations
We seek to make our services available to all who desire them. We request a donation (see below) to our non-profit agency, Allen Ministry Services, Inc. See donations page for how to donate. Suggested donation guides are as follows:
- Spiritual direction - $40-100 per session (50-75 mins)
- Guided quiet retreat - half day $50; full-day $100
- Courses - $50 per course (6-8 wks)
- Coaching - $75-100 per hour session
- Healing/soaking prayer session - $20-50
- Focused-Life /Career Assessment Process - $500-$1000 per day (1 & 2-day sessions)
